Human Resource Professionals all over the world have faced a number of different challenges during the pandemic COVID-19. These challenges are many in number if counted, however, the nature of the challenges do vary accordingly. In the first place HR is a highly technical field and holds a huge number of challenges already. Well, attached with COVID-19, you can actually double the amount of efforts. Hence, as well as the amount of fatigue and stress taken to resolve the issues. As COVID-19 started to spread all over the world. Therefore, its impacts showed the amount of efforts needed to combat the pandemic. Hence, as well as the number of preventive measures that needs to be taken.

Managing human resource became a bigger level challenge for HR Professionals as they communicated on board. Primarily, the importance levels attached to safety management activities from Corona virus.

CHALLENGES FACED BY HUMAN RESOURCE PROFESSIONALS;

  1. COMMUNICATIONS ACROSS THE BOARDS:

Communicating across the boards regards to the activities and procedures during COVID-19 is one of the biggest challenges. During the COVID-19, being part of the Human Resource professionals duties is to make sure that all procedures are followed. Especially, during COVID-19, and not in the middle of lock downs, i.e. in-office procedures.

Taken on a universal basis, while making sure about the preventive measures. Everything gets communicated across the boards when necessary. Thus, this is something that needs to be made sure. Part of the preventive measures includes wearing masks, using sanitisers and having a distance of at least 4-6 feet.

  1. MAINTENANCE OF SAFETY PROCEDURES:

What’s more important during COVID-19 or Corona virus is the maintenance of safety procedures. Taken as a challenge by HR Professionals are the procedures that are followed. Furthermore, maintained in office during the working hours. The necessary maintenance is highly important. Particularly, as following the protocols is the only way to minimise the spread and effects of COVID-19. Imposed by the Govt. of Canada, these are not only strict procedures. Hence, but also procedures that will be highly important for the employees. As well as all the other stakeholders at work.

  1. IMPOSING FINES ON THOSE NOT FOLLOWING PROCEDURES:

Those who are not following the procedures during the pandemic COVID-19. According to the time that the law hasn’t been followed, a fine should be imposed by HR. This can be a huge challenge as it is difficult to keep a check on all the employees. This is with regards to wearing masks, using sanitiser and checking temperatures regularly at work. As these practices became highly critical and part of the workplace ethics. Termed as minimal outlaws, this is an important declaration to find those individuals. Employees at the workplace can get away with regular safety procedures. However, there should be a strict way to maintain these procedures. Significantly, to avoid any possible irregularities during COVID-19.

  1. AFFECTING DAILY ROUTINE & OTHER TASKS:

HR Professionals role is to manage the activities of human resources. On top of this, control and monitor work place disturbances and employee issues. Hence, during the COVID-19, it is indeed a challenge for HR Professionals. On a routine basis, to maintain their daily tasks and day to day routines. With respect to the responsibilities related to COVID-19, the work load of HR Professionals can get affected.

To have an eye on this challenge and make sure that it doesn’t affect their daily tasks and routine activities. Hence, they need to make proper usage & proper utilisation of time. Time is a huge constraint once the responsibilities at work are increased, and it needs to be monitored effectively.

  1. MONITORING OF REMOTE WORKING PROCEDURES:

During the lock down stage in the pandemic times. The remote working became a normal course of procedures for employees all over the world. Hence, it has been a challenge for the HR Professionals to monitor the remote working procedures. Also, keep an eye on the attitudes of employees at the workplace. All employees need to be on Zoom or Skype on time. Furthermore, properly dressed irrespective of them working from home or working remotely. Apart from the HR professionals’ duties, it is also mandatory to keep a good eye on the employee behaviours. Also, how they are managing daily routine tasks. Whatever problems they are encountering while working remotely needs to be addressed by the HR Professionals. Hence, this is part of their growing responsibilities during the pandemic.

HR should be observant enough to make sure that all sort of work is conducted with a highly professional attitude. In addition to this, the employees are not taking leverages of working from home. Obviously, they can feel a bit relaxed, but they should feel the responsibility with the same intensity of working in-house. Ironically, it’s also the responsibility of HR professionals to make the employees feel their responsibility. This is mainly with regards to their assignments or their deadlines. They must also act as a motivating catalyst apart from the role played by leadership. This role is highly significant in control and management of the company.

FINDING A CONCLUSIVE HR STRATEGY:

This is vitally true that HR Challenges have been extended at least 30%-35%. Hence, in the wake of the Corona virus happenings. However, internationally speaking they can easily comprehend to all the challenges. Furthermore, as working as a HR Professional is indeed a tough job. It’s not just keeping an eye. It’s like keeping a good open eye, and making sure that things get along smoothly. The challenges can always be minimised once HR strategy is mixed with a highly sophisticated COVID-19 encountering strategy. A strategy that will also be an influence for similar diseases in future.

COVID-19 vaccine news is a mega breaking news in Canada & for the tourism sector in the year 2021. An industry that has been on the suffering end due to the current pandemic. Hence, the name of the current pandemic is Coronavirus aka COVID-19. Furthermore, there are a huge magnitude of losses that occurred in the industry due to the virus & its  effects. The safety precautions needed for the travel & tourism sector especially in the times of lock down needed some necessary implications regards to the prevention of COVID-19. However, the news in 2021 from Health Canada that the country has approved Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is a celebration. It was cheerful for the Canadian citizens, and came as a huge boost for the sector’s profitability aspects. Not only for the Tourism industry, but many industries linked together to the tourism sector in Canada.

According to the President& CEO of The Tourism Industry Association of Ontario, Mr Beth Potter, the approval is a huge step forward towards bringing a halt to the current pandemic. Seen as a ray of hope is the announcement that Canadians can consume Pfizer vaccines. Especially, for the Canadian citizens in these critical times.

ONE OF THE BEST HOLIDAY DESTINATIONS IN THE WORLD- CANADA:

Canada is truly one of the favourite holiday destinations for many tourists outside Canada, especially United States & Mexico, the neighbouring countries. However, people within Canada prefer travel & tourism in Canada from one province to another province or a territory. This vaccine will not only give Canadian travellers a sense of security & safety, but will also give them a mental health satisfaction. A huge credit goes to the American Pharmaceuticals & multinational Pfizer, based in many countries all across the world and ranked 57 on the 2018 fortune 500 list of the largest US corporations by revenue. The company Pfizer has been in the Pharmaceuticals industry since a long time. The company was first formed in New York, USA in the year 1849.

TRAVEL & TOURISM INDUSTRY & COVID-19:

The amount of financial losses in the tourism industry due to COVID-19 started since the end of 2019 when the pandemic came into limelight & started spreading. The Canada-US border closed for the first time in March 2020. Furthermore, all kind of bilateral trade with USA due to border restrictions came to a halt. International travel was also affected immensely during the lock down phase. Only necessary travel was permitted & strict legislation were imposed on the travellers, i.e. 14 days quarantine post travel & some precautions & mandatory procedures pre-travel etc. etc. All these hassles limited the amount of travel for tourism in the country. This is from within and abroad to make it highly secure and a safe procedure. Hence, in other words Travel & Tourism sector got highly dependent on factors that became mandatory procedures to follow.

COVID-19- HOW IT INCREASED THE FEAR FACTOR?

The increase of fear factor happened at a gradual pace in the heart of the Canadians. Hence, it caused travel bans that started to take place end of February in 2020. Apart from other factors linked with the virus. The reason for the rapid increase of the fear factor was the rate of its speed. Originated from Wuhan city, Hubei Province in China from an animal market the virus has not only caused financial losses. Ironically, it has been a cause of many deaths throughout the world. Unfortunately, also caused many people with mental health issues due to strictly staying away from routine life.

Finally, a ray of hope, i.e. the COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer is a huge positive. Especially, in times of so many negatives occurring together. Regards to the COVID-19 antivirus the vaccine shows the amount of research conducted.

The announcement of variant of COVID-19 circulating in the United Kingdom has imposed travel bans to & from U.K. by many countries including Canada. The federal Govt. made an announcement that it is extending its U.K. travel ban by a period of two weeks. This is all part of the Govt. of Canada’s efforts for the prevention of a new variant of Corona virus & its older version.

Regarding the passenger flights, the announcement was made by the current PM of Canada, Mr. Justin Trudeau. It said that all flights from Canada to the United Kingdom will remain suspended until 6th of Jan 2021. The initial suspension of the flights from and to U.K. was for 72 hours on Monday. Hence, this happened after the announcement news for the new variant went into circulation. Canada holds bilateral trade and travel relationships with the United Kingdom. Ironically, as Canada is one of the oldest monarchies of the Great Britain. Queen Elizabeth of United Kingdom is the current monarch of Canada and is Queen of United Kingdom since 1952.

INTERNATIONAL REACTION TO TRAVEL BAN WITH UNITED KINGDOM

World Health Organisation or WHO is the body upon whose request the restrictions has been imposed. Furthermore, holds very serious efforts of the Health Governing body against Corona virus. Apart from Canada there are almost dozens of countries that have cut down all sort of travel with United Kingdom. Mexico, another country from North America hasn’t cut down any sort of travel with U.K. Taken as a bright and a positive gesture from a North American nation. The motive of the travel ban is to evaluate the dangers associated with the COVID variant. On top of this, how fast the dangers can be catered with in short-time interval.

Fortunately, there has been no recorded cases as yet of this variant in Canada and its territories. This is mainly due to the health & Safety efforts of the Canadian public and the Canadian Govt. with respect to the COVID-19 virus. According to health officials from London, the new variant appeared to spread quickly through the population in UK.

IS VACCINE A PERFECT PROTECTION FROM COVID-19 VARIANT?

According to the researchers from Health Canada. Unfortunately, there is no vaccine that can be a 100% protection from COVID-19 or its variant. It is mandatory to follow certain precautions as the effectiveness is not guaranteed at 100%.

However, according to the CDC, there are estimates that 37% of CV infections don’t cause symptoms. The trial for the Pfizer vaccine looked only at whether the vaccines prevented symptomatic infections. Pfizer vaccines are one of the most effective ones in terms of treatment and protection from Corona virus. Moderna is the other vaccine that is a bit less popular and effective in terms of protection from Corona virus. As far as the clinical trials are concerned both of them provided approximately 92.5% of protection. This is huge numbers as there are many cases in USA and UK that are being termed as positive on a daily basis with Corona virus. In Canada, however, the quantities are a bit less as compared to their neighbouring countries Canada and Mexico.

Canada has increased its annual immigration targets to a figure of 400K immigrants per year until 2023. Migration control of 2019-20 are a major cause of Govt.’s change of policies & developments. Reasons are more linked to the disturbances that are global as well as in Canada to a huge extent. The fact that immigration Canada knows the number of new comers that they should be accepting globally is keeping in mind the economic system in Canada, economic values & in some parts the literary values. All these values have some major & in some provinces highly major contributions from the immigrants. People coming from all over the world contribute to the Canadian economy in terms of education, business & trade & other financial aspects that are interlinked with the economy of Canada.

The fact cannot be denied that amongst the countries opted for foreign education & research, Canada is placed globally on the 4th position after USA, UK & Australia. More importantly with new universities & colleges with higher standards built all across Canada the numbers are increasing every day.

Canada is more significantly a land of much greater opportunities as it used to be in time of early 80’s when the struggle was fresh and population & population density figures were significantly on a low. As Canada is the 2nd Largest country area-wise & the largest in North America, the infrastructure has expanded with significant measures to rise in economic values especially in cities like Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, & Vancouver. The amalgamation of high-rise, increase in man-power, investments in Universities & research & many other factors including sports have been great contributors to these cities high living standards & lifestyle. The province Ontario in this regards has emerged with greater significance.

CANADA’S NEW IMMIGRATION PLANS:

The 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan of 400K aims to welcome over 60% of all immigrants under economic class program. This also includes through express entry & through Provincial Nominee Program. The Immigration Level plan are one of the most important announcements. The announcement frequency is every year regards to Canadian immigration policies. Hence, this largely depends on the economic situation of the country as well. Taken as candidates, the number of in-takes are based on these annual announcements for immigration numbers. Hence, for different programs also including Provincial nominee program. The categories under which Canada welcomes its immigrants are economic, family, refugee, and humanitarian and compassionate grounds.

WHY CANADA AIMS TO MAINTAIN HIGH IMMIGRATION?

Since many years Canada is maintaining its high immigration targets & this year they increased the numbers to larger extents due to the current ongoing economic crisis. Why since many years these numbers have been largely maintained is to offset the negative economic & fiscal impacts of the ageing population of Canada & its relatively low birth rate as compared to rest of the countries.

According to demographics & statistics the country has one of the world’s oldest populations, with a huge 18% of the population being age 65 and over. Also has one of the lowest birth rates i.e. 1.47 births per woman. Because of these numbers Canada shall be facing immense amount of challenges related to its spending in the near future. Increasing the number of annual immigration is a simple answer to this growing concern related to migrations. These new migrants will support the labour force of Canada & automatically the economic growth.

A brief history illustrates that since the founding of Canada in 1867. The vast country has welcomed over 300,000 immigrants annually just five times. Therefore, the country is welcoming 0.9% of its population in immigrants. Furthermore, these figures are three times higher than the capita new comer intake in United States.

IMMIGRATION TO CANADA & COVID-19:

Impacts of COVID-19 had huge effects on the levels of immigration in Canada along with Provincial numbers. This has resulted in huge drops in level of new comers coming to Canada in 2020. Furthermore, this is also a major concern and a cause. More importantly, increasing the level of immigration in next 3 years to 400K per year. The low figures have been partially due to the number of people approved permanent residence. Hence, due to the circumstances in COVID-19. As many were unable to travel to Canada. Furthermore, there immigration documents expired due to travel restrictions in place in Canada.

Significantly, the Govt. plans to balance the effects with 400K immigration targets & other measures that are already in place. These measures are a shadow of the economic values of Canada & an answer as to why immigrants play such a huge role in its policy framework?

The second wave of COVID-19 is on the way after the first spell. Hence, it was a test for the whole Canadian nation in the first wave. It’s not only Canada, its North America, the continent that has suffered immensely. This is in terms of the deaths and financial crisis in the vast continent. Although most people are well aware of the COVID-19 scenario. Furthermore, What are the safety precautions that needs to be taken in the first place? Still there are some predictions regards to COVID-19 that can be more dangerous in its second phase. Why it is considered a larger threat than the first one is mainly due to its unpredictable nature and the circumstances it created during the first wave.

However, for many the second wave of COVID-19 is looking a lot different than the first wave. Alarmingly, the testing capacity has improved drastically and the barriers to get tested are far lower. Stock in hand for PPEs i.e. Personal Protective equipment have grown and the knowledge to fight the pandemic is much more than before. Most people don’t want to take unwanted risks regards to the changing behaviours of COVID-19.

LESSONS TAKEN FROM THE 1st WAVE:

There are huge lessons taken from the 1st wave that can be really helpful in the second wave. Apart from the precautionary measures taken in the first wave. What’s more necessary is to take good care of the distancing laws. These were drastic measures in place since the first wave of COVID-19. Included in an interesting count from first wave are older age citizens over the age of 70 years. Due to the pandemic, COVID-19 in terms of deaths, 90% of the death were from old age citizens over 70.

Hence, the Canadian Govt. needs to introduce special measures for older citizens, not only part of their rights, but also for others. The worse hit according to Govt. were the poorest & most diverse regions of major cities. The Govt. should highlight and mark those areas & make improvements regards to taking strict measures in the second wave. Noticeably, Black Canadian population was found to be more infected & hospitalised due to the disease than others.

MEASURES TAKEN TO SLOW THE 2nd WAVE:

According to Mr. Steven Hoffman from York University in Toronto, what’s important is to remember that the second wave of COVID-19 is a threat not lesser than the first one. He believes that this remembrance will act as a psychological shield to fight against the pandemic in the second wave as well. The thresholds for the re-entering process in the lock down in second wave needs to be more data driven. Therefore, with the help of statistics involved it will make things easier for Govt. to take precautionary steps in future.

From precautionary measures & containment procedures, according to a Govt. official most people feel highly exhausted. What can be big time concerning is that people won’t be willing to follow the Public Health directives, and their ignorance should be controlled for encountering future concerns. The Govt. here should play their role and urge people to follow the precautionary measures especially in sensitive public areas & key zones. Public places like parks and Cinemas are places to have fun and energise. Hence, it is more likely that people act smartly to fight against the second wave of COVID-19.

On a more personal basis it’s important for people to keep re-examining and realising the role of COVID-19 super spreaders.

As part of the health & Safety or HSE’s measures and potential warning regards to PPE’s that microwaving of the face mask has been marked as a potential hazard. PPE’s are Personal Protective equipment and include face masks, hand gloves, and other protective wear. This is necessary for prevention from the dangerous pandemic COVID-19. Hence, for other pandemics of similar nature as well. This is According to Ontario’s Fire Marshal Jon Pegg. A potential risk as it has been rated is pandemic the heating of a face mask for decontaminating it. A hazard that can turn into an accident. However, there can be alternative ways that are risk-free for people to avoid a fire.

Further according to the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency management. Resulting in overheating & catching fire, as the microwaves are designed to heat cloth materials. In form of potential fire hazards with the mask are the risk and warning associated. Equipped with a metal nose wire as they hold capabilities of fire.  Attached to the facial mask interior are the staples that are the main and most usual cause of the fire. Heating the face mask in a microwave is a huge cause of this fire hazard. The most recent stats also claim with readings between Jan 1 & May 4 that there have been fire fatalities in Ontario. These represent a huge 65% increase over the same time last year. Taken as future potential warnings, these stats are detrimental to the safe treatment of masks.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ‘HSE’ GUIDELINES FOR PEOPLE:

Nobody can deny the importance levels attached to HSE guidelines i.e. Health & Safety guidelines in place. Also, there are concerns with the risk levels for people. Attached in form of the potential risks that need minimizing. The risk-free ways of decontamination of face masks also include the application of a disinfectant or antiseptic for e.g. Dettol.

The other most used and prominent ways are recycling or using disposable face masks as the use of the masks has been made more common than was before. Health & Safety measures are an important treatment in the health & Safety industry and are given in writing in form of a report by any company. Guidelines for people are a set of procedures that needs to be taken care of while facing potential risks & hazards.

According to the fire marshal Ontario, it’s a reminder that fire safety is especially important and holds key values in place. This is particularly important during the pandemic COVID-19, as people are staying home and cooking as well. Further claims from the office include that people are currently unaware of any incidents. Hence, these incidents are related to the residents moving masks in Ontario.

However, they have significantly heard of claims and recommendations that face masks can be sterilized in different ways. Termed as a priority that needs to be avoided as well as a life hazard. For the benefit of the people thorough cleaning of the mask is much needed. This is According to the Chief Medical Officer of Health from the Province of Ontario. It’s not only awareness of Health & Safety that is provided to the people. Hence, it is also some intelligence quotient that is good for self-awareness. Self-awareness also includes being mentally sound about how to avoid potential hazards that can lead to the death penalty or injuries.

Is it Worthwhile buying a vacation property is a major question that everyone needs to ask. Especially, after the effects of the Pandemic, COVID-19 in the Real Estate sector in Canada. With family members & loved ones, considered as good time spending as vacations. However, the question that needs to be asked is, IS IT A GOOD DEAL?

The benefits of owning your own vacation property in form of a small cottage, or a nicely located home. Hence, it is always a beneficial idea in terms of enjoying the benefits. It will definitely help in providing a quick weekend charge for the next week. For family get-to-gathers, and relaxations, the holidays are needed for a busy & hectic schedule. Something that you can’t miss or ignore, as taken from an emotional point of view. However, what needs to be pondered are the financial implications, i.e. from a financial point of view.

As an example, we can presume that the Purchase price is $500,000. It doesn’t matter you use cash, or mortgage/ home equity, or a line of credit. Furthermore, a combination of payments, there are some other costs that need to be considered. If for instance, you have purchased it on money that you borrowed, despite the current mortgage rates being 2%. Therefore, in the long run, the interest rates are most likely to go higher. On a property that’s worth $500,000 there will be an initial cost, i.e. 4% or $20,000.

THE FINANCIAL PERSPECTIVES:

The financial perspective in this regard says that it might not be a good idea to invest. Hence, in times of the on-going financial crisis. A sympathetic situation that relates heavily to COVID-19. The costs can be even higher for those properties or cottages that are older. Hence, this includes a property with amenities and high fees.

What’s the Return on Investment for owning such a property, which can also be called as a cottage or an ideally located home far from the busy city? If we keep in mind the Bank of Canada’s 2% inflation target, arguments say a more reasonable long-term growth for real estate is 2% to 4%. The vacation property purchase might not be the best choice if financially manipulated and calculated. The best answer that the buyer must ask himself or herself is that can you rent a comparable property for less than $20,000 per year. Apart from other reasons, some Non-financial reasons are also associated with the add-on. These are associated with the purchase of the vacation property. Hence, these reasons are also related to leisure, luxury, and entertainment.

USING THE PROPERTY AS RENTAL PROPERTY:

Renting the property after buying it for some future income can reduce the net cost automatically. Hence, it can make the purchase more fiscally responsible. These are the tax implications if you do this, termed as a ‘Bad financial decision’.

Secondly, the rental income is taxable, and on the other hand, the renting out of a vacation property will also result in providing some tax deductions. Ironically, these deductions are based on the proportion of the year that the property is available for rent. Even, if you rent it for a period of six months after using it for six months then half of your eligible expenses will be tax-deductible. Hence, the decision is not worthwhile from a financial perspective and can result in losses that can damage your long term financial stability.

IS IT A GOOD DECISION?

Therefore, it’s best to do some basic maths involved, using your own numbers try to figure out the net cost of the property. Also, if you rent something comparable for less, only consider the option as the best one if there is affordability without compromising on other financial goals. Your basic and sustainable financial goals mustn’t hurt your decision to buy a vacation property, as your Pay-back period can considerably rise for such a non-lucrative investment.

However, when the financial crisis is over, and tourism rises, the decision can turn out to be a good one. This also depends on your mortgage term, costs, & percentage.

What offices might look like in Post COVID-19 world largely depends on the responsible attitude of the management. Hence, the way management is performing their desired roles and responsibilities. The employees in Canada going back to work in coming weeks must prepare themselves for many instant changes.

Hence, re-opening is not an easy decision in the current circumstances. Rather, its a brave one and requires immense amount of thought process. This thought process is vital for implementing the change in business functions. As part of the change management policies the employees should take care of two vital elements i.e. social distancing & wearing PPEs i.e. mask as health safety precautions. This is how the offices will be maintaining the organisational behaviour in office. A post pandemic workplace will be maintaining greater distance between desks. Furthermore, mandatory masks, shift work and lineups to take crowd-free elevators or getting a temperature check.

The advisers at the Canadian commercial real estate and architecture firms have issued strict guidelines to clients. These are based on how to prepare employees for their work place everyday in Post COVID-19. Once its deemed appropriate, the employees in Canada must return to their respective workspace. For the prevention of germs the use of spray in offices is a necessity. Especially, in the Post COVID-19 world, the practice should be made a common one. On top of this, sanitising for employees should be made essential. Regular sanitising and washing hands will definitely prevent germs from getting to each other. Primarily as COVID-19 is a pandemic that can be transmitted through physical contact and touch.

GREATER PERSONAL SPACE:

Being part of the change management policies and mandatory procedures. A greater personal space shall be available for employees and workers working in corporate offices. Being modified and maintained regularly is the seating plan as advised by the Canadian Govt. Hence, as according to the social distancing regulations being part of safety protocols. Open-plan offices with small workstations and few private offices can have space and reduce real estate costs. For the sake of encouraging team work and collaboration the dividers between cubicles have been abandoned. This is for the sake of regular interactions while maintaining the physical distancing order in Post COVID-19 world.

The term ‘Office Plague’ became a common thing long before COVID-19 hit the world. However, relying on the greater personal space means people are working while taking care of the COVID-19 work regulations. These are mandatory practices in offices all over the world, especially Canada.

TEMPERATURE CHECKS ON ARRIVAL:

As part of the regular practice and procedures and with strict compliance. On Arrival temperature checks must be followed in offices, and these should be part of the mandatory practices. In the Post COVID-19 world and being part of the essential health and safety practices. Screening procedures are what they are known as and are followed strictly as preventive measures. As part of the screening procedures could also include restricting the entry into the building. This is from just one access point instead of more than one. The interaction with security makes sure that people aren’t sick. Hence, their entrance makes sure that they are not under threat of COVID-19. Reluctance in following the strict COVID-19 practices means breaking the law. Hence, it is followed by heavy fines while avoiding the COVID pressure.

WORKING IN SHIFT PATTERNS:

Organisational behaviour outlays an important role in the maintenance of regular work patterns for different workers. This is especially true if you are working in a Supply chain, a warehouse, or a factory. Hence, regularly taking work pressures, peer pressures and working in different work patterns. The shift patterns matter individually and on team basis during COVID-19 and Post COVID-19 working regulations.

With regular following in Canada of the aligned health & Safety procedures Working smartly in shift patterns helps in maintaining the social distancing laws at work. Furthermore, making sure in parallel that there is no loss of work. The aim is to work without loss of work activity and maintenance of the physical distancing at work place or offices.

Organised by days of the week or hours of the day are the shift patterns as according to Bergeron. Having a fewer number of staff on the premises at any given time would be a preferable act. Especially, for companies hesitant to incur the expense of additional space for the accommodation of the distancing protocols.

SAFE DINING ARRANGEMENTS:

Safe dining arrangements are a necessity of the Post COVID-19 world, especially in the highly affected areas in Canada. These are according to the health and safety guidelines that are normal practice apart from COVID-19 health practices.

Unlike the corporate culture it’s important to adopt to food safety laws and practices with even more authority and impact. The canteens must maintain the social distancing order as well as there should be glass separators. This is for the sake of people’s safety and maintenance of distancing while eating. This is necessary as well because no one can wear a mask while dinning in the canteen hall.

Some other necessary implications includes the people serving in the canteen should be wearing transparent gloves. On top of that, mask and all the required PPE’s that are mandatory. Ironically, for the sake of health and safety guidelines due to COVID-19.

The Canadian Tourism Industry’s sufferings has been immense in recent times due to the pandemic COVID-19. As part of these sufferings there has been some recent developments that are in place as well. These are to encounter the impacts of the pandemic in the North-American continent. Furthermore, one of them has been the closure of the Canadian- US border. The border has been closed since a while now and there is an ongoing push from the Canadian Govt. to open borders for the sake of tourism & promotions of tourism activities.

Many tourists from the neighbouring country United States visit Canada annually by road for tourism purposes. The closure has impacted the numbers by huge margins as travel restrictions has been in place as well i.e. Air travel from across the border. In terms of annual generation of revenues from the Tourism sector Canada, there have been huge impacts. In addition to this, they can be highly devastating in future. The main reason is as it would take a while to recover from all the incurred losses.

The Canadian Travel and Tourism Roundtable is as organisation that comprises of members of travel & tourism sector in Canada. In an open letter to the PM Justin Trudeau, the request has been placed very openly. This request has been for the reopening of the Provinces, territories, and country to travel. Hence, laying special emphasis on The Canadian-US Border.

INT. TRAVEL & MOST RECENT DEVELOPMENTS:

Slow and gradual is the reopening process that is taking place. This is according to international developments in place in recent times. Hence, the travel & Tourism sectors should be permitted to open up for the summer season. The main reason for this is that the industry houses 1.8 million jobs. On top of this, it also accounts for $102 billion of the country’s economy. These are huge figures for the Canadian economy both in terms of jobs and revenues contributed to the economy from the Travel & Tourism sector.

The organisation has also emphasised to the Govt. of Canada that they are highly aware of the Health & Safety laws and parameters. They further emphasised in a highly critical manner that the current travel restrictions implemented by the Govt. of Canada are too broad and unnecessary, as COVID-19 is getting over and most of the country is opening up.

The letter further implies in terms of the international travel that the approach should be more targeted. This explains how the compulsory 14-day quarantine policy and the closure of the country’s borders is now unnecessary for all those travelling from abroad. This is mainly because the 14-day quarantine policy is not in line with what other countries are following around the world.

This has been taken as a huge step from Canadian Travel & Tourism Roundtable as they have received immense amount of support & endorsements from many companies in the travel & tourism sector Canada. These companies includes Air Canada, Vancouver Int. Airport, The Business Council of British Columbia, & finally The Tourism Industry Association of Canada. All of the bodies has shown huge concern regards to the sustainability measures for Canadian Travel & Tourism Industry.

The Real estate sector in Canada has been currently undergoing some serious impacts. These are because of the latest developments from the COVID-19 scenario. These impacts are related to the pricing strategies in the real estate and changes in Govt.’s policies. In the midst of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are some positives that have been figured out.

There are millions of Canadians in the non-essential workforce that are working from home. For visiting the business & public places, there have been restrictions & bans imposed by the Govt. of Canada.

THE IMPACTS ON REAL ESTATE OF WORK FROM HOME:

Working from home has outlaid significant impacts on the real estate sector Canada in just a matter of few months. This is largely because of the reason that most people in Canada are restricted to their homes & the property prices have raised especially in the commercial sector. The real estate industry in particular is a prime example of the current circumstances, and the need is to take drastic measures to adapt to scenarios of ‘Business as Usual’. A term that determines that how the businesses must take place under normal circumstances. There are also some key changes in the way agents operate in conditions of work from home. This is also because it is an uncertainty that how the markets will perform in future.

According to the experts, as they have seen the most uncertain times. It’s hard to make predictions and evaluations like before. The question is “What can buyers and sellers expect from the markets during these most unpredictable times?”

THE LONG TERM EFFECTS:

How long will it take for the market to bounce back? A question that needs to be asked by investors in the Real estate business. It can take a year, two year or three years, that’s not the question, however, what’s concerning is how long these effects will damage Canadian real estate sector. In fact, the reality says that the fundamentals of the market i.e. particularly in the GTA and other major urban centers don’t change.

What’s more affected is the attitude of the buyers in the Real Estate business which cannot be affirmative unless things get better. The pessimist attitude means buyers in the Real estate markets are looking for things to get ‘Back to normal.’

FEARS OF A GLOBAL RECESSION:

Having the fears of a global recession is why most people’s attitudes have changed towards investments in the Real estate sector. A global recession just like something that happened in 2008-09 in Canada and impacted the Real estate sector is the fear of most people. This financial recession has not only impacted the attitudes, however, most interestingly it’s hard to predict a property performance. Therefore, the levels of risk associated are more than what they could have been under normal circumstances.

LIMITATIONS FOR CONSUMERS IN THE REAL ESTATE:

There are limitations for consumers in the real estate sector, and these limitations are in form of pricing strategies. The change in consumer behaviors means changing trends of the real estate market is affecting the consumer’s psychology.

Other limitations include the purchase of cottages for holidays, limitations imposed on rental property due to fluctuations in the purchase price. The consumer’s limitations also includes property predictions, as they are hard to make in these current times. They are unable to determine and evaluate the risks involved in selling and buying especially.

POSITIVE CHANGES IN GOVT’s POLICIES- CECRA:

The changes in Govt.’s policies are mostly linked up with COVID-19, the current pandemic for business owners. It has proved to be something positive after seeing so many lows because of the current pandemic. CECRA or Canadian Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance, provides relief for small businesses that are experiencing financial hardships in paying for their business property rent. A huge step from the Govt. to stabilise the situation in times of the pandemic, COVID-19. The program offered by the Govt. of Canada is also valid for those who have entered or will enter into a rent reduction agreement. Rent reduction, yet another positives amongst the Govt. policies is helping people reduce their rent payments through 75% payment re-reimbursements from the Canadian Govt. scheme known as CECRA.

The radical changes in Canada’s latest travel restrictions has allowed more families to Re-unite & is a positive step towards the Re-unification process. A Re-unification process precisely concerns with the families. Hence, following strict COVID-19 measures i.e Post lock-down & being united back again. Changes in cross-border travel policies became important & later on mandatory as family reunification became an emotional necessity. It has been long since the travel restrictions were imposed & family resistance came as a hindrance in distant family meetings.

The policies made by the Federal Govt. also enforced strict monitoring of who should be allowed to travel & meet with their loved ones. This has been a huge step from the Canadian Govt. on compassionate grounds. Hence, to allow the loved ones and closed ones to meet each other. A step that involves health considerations being priority measures is part of the changes. On top of this emotional aspects for families undergoing the situations during the current pandemic.

According to the Immigration minister Marco Mendicino, Public Safety Minister Bill Blair and Health Minister Patty Hajdu. These people hold their specific opinions as reps from the Canadian Govt. Most importantly, all three of them were of the same opinion. Ironically, that it is necessary for the Govt. to allow compassionate travel. Furthermore, remove restrictions in light of ongoing conditions in Canada. These conditions can vary but for the time being it’s necessary in some parts of Canada to relax travel restrictions.

MOST RECENT MONITORING MEASURES IN CANADA:

As the Govt. is allowing more people into Canada on grounds of compassionate & family travel. The Govt. of Canada is strictly monitoring and placing more strict monitoring measures into the current monitoring system in place. This is for people to strictly follow the quarantine orders. A set of mandatory procedures placed by Canadian Govt. Hence, the deployment of approximately 190 Public Health Officials is a part of the monitoring of these procedures.

This deployment apart from PHA of Canada will be adding the staff members. The reason is to call the travellers who are in the practice of quarantine to have strict checks on them. Govt. of Canada is taking the quarantine measures very seriously as Canada is entering phase 2 i.e. COVID-19 wave 2. It is expected that without measures things can get out of hand of Public Health Agency & their past and ongoing efforts. Failure in compliance to the quarantine measures will definitely result in penalties. Being imposed with heavy fines or finally a jail sentence is where failure to compliance will lead to.

SAFETY PRIORITIES OF THE PM JUSTIN TRUDEAU:

Since the start of COVID-19 & its measures in Canada. The Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been highly active in terms of his policies. Furthermore, his activities concerning the safety measures for the Canadian citizens are more evident recently. The priority of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been very transparent. This is in line with the current policy developments is to make things safer for Canadians. According to the PM, citizens of Canada have already suffered and they need immediate relaxations in travelling.

Protection from COVID-19 according to Govt. laws is what the PM wants to make sure. This precisely means taking strong actions at the Canadian borders. Justin Trudeau further said that while keeping Canadian safety in check it is the Govt. of Canada’s responsibility. Also, to keep improving these measures and make sure Canada stays safe. Compassionate cases are not rare in Canada especially because of the time frame due to the lock-down. The Govt. wants to make sure that people stay away from mental health issues because of missing their families. Hence, Trudeau claims that allowing compassionate travel is the right step at the right time.

The international students intending to study in Canada still holds their determination levels to a huge extent. Coronavirus has changed the scenario for people travelling to most countries for study especially USA, U.K & Australia. However, those Int. students coming to Canada still have a mindset that is positive. As they are willing enough to continue their studies despite the Covid-19 outbreak. Choosing a career through post-graduate or a graduate degree program is vitally important for international students.

According to an int. students survey. Some 69% of the 6,900 international student’s application intend to start their studies as planned. They still believe that Canada will recover quickly and is not that affected as USA & U.K. Students motivation is highly dependant on their determination factors for study in Canada. This is apart from the intentions to study & research in Canada. In the survey, most participants were from India, China & Bangladesh and among other Asian countries. Only a mere 5 % said they can’t take the risks associated and don’t want to continue their studies. All the students that participated in the survey their destination countries were USA, Canada, U.K, and Australia & New Zealand.  All of them are famous for international students and the top three that holds most demands are USA, U.K & Australia with Canada on the fourth.

UNIVERSITY ACTIVITIES AS ‘COVID-19’ RESTRICTIONS BECOME LOSE:

As the Canadian provinces are losing and started pulling back Coronavirus measures. There are some universities that are also opening their research facilities. Some of these are as follows.

THE MCGILL UNIVERSITY:

The McGill University in Montreal Quebec is one of the biggest educational institutions in Canada based in the province of Quebec. The University is planning to commence the first stage of its phase-in to operation on May 11. 2020. They have hence allowed most on-campus researchers to go back to work and start their research or whatever they want to do on-campus. The researchers in the university shall be asked to follow strict procedures that have been imposed by the Canadian authorities and shall practice until the Govt. of Canada further notifies.

However, adhering to safety protocols is a must amid COVID-19 outbreak and most recent happenings. Even in the ease-up of the current situation the Govt. shall notify of an immediate shutdown in-case need arises. These are both at the Govt. or institution level due to the current and most recent outbreak.

UNIVERSITY OF MONTREAL:

The University of Montreal is also a big educational institution and a State University of the province of Quebec in capital Montreal. Known for its research and other student programs that are on the list of international student’s favourite student’s program.

They said that working from home is still preferred however they need their researchers back. The university didn’t specify which ones they need, but they needed students to be physically present on the campus.

UNIVERSITY OF PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND:

The University of Prince Edward Island will allow its researchers to begin research on campus from 25th of May. Another famous Canadian university that is known for its research and excellence internationally. The university has also allowed some of its management staff and key team players to meet on campus.

These activities shall take place while maintaining social distancing and remote working when possible. The University further announced that the second phase will commence on June 15th and this shall happen on an evaluation of the first phase.  Hence, the third phase shall commence from August 1st and is another expansion phase as planned by the University due to COVID-19. Here the university shall prepare for the fall academic semester.

HOW GOVT. IS HELPING INT. STUDENTS:

The Canadian Govt. is helping the Int. students along with Non-Int. students so that students can afford their studies. As most people in Canada are under the impacts of COVID-19, the Govt. has introduced CERB i.e. Canadian emergency response benefit for the workers. These workers also include the students who are working to cover up their study costs. CERB is a benefit program that will give workers during COVID-19 a benefit of up to $2000/month. Apart from this, an additional measure for international students in some provinces is the extension of hours per week from 20 to 40. This will be a huge positive impact on the students who have been cut out from their work lately.

The Govt. of Quebec has decided to automatically extend the QAC i.e. Quebec Acceptance Certificate for those whose certificates are expiring before 31st Dec 2020. The acceptance certificate from the university is known in Quebec by the name of QAC or Quebec Acceptance Certificate.

CESB or Canada Emergency Students Benefit are those for only non-international students to support themselves and fulfil the eligibility requirements as well. This was a proposal from Mr David of Cape Breton University in Sydney Nova Scotia that the program CESB shall be for the international students as well.  The benefits are up to $1,750/ month income assistance to the eligible students. Until now the international students are excluded from the offer, but it’s most likely they shall be considered due to Covid-19 outbreak.

All these efforts by the Provincial & Federal Govt. are there for the sake of international and local students who are getting affected due to the pandemic. The Canadian Govt. realizes the fact that Int. students and local students are both in the same boat and must be treated equally irrespective of their nationalities.

The three provinces including Quebec that is the largest of the Provinces in Canada are easing restrictions fast. This is according to the latest reports from Health Canada as the country is undergoing a smooth opening-up process. Happening in the midst of COVID-19, as the easing process takes place. Hence, while life is getting back to normal slowly and gradually. Quebec is the largest of the Canadian Provinces and accounts for over half of COVID-19 cases. It is the re-opening in several sectors. Furthermore, most impacts will be evident in Montreal. It is the largest of the cities in the huge French-speaking province of Quebec.

All the easing measures are a mandatory part of the re-opening up process including social distancing. Furthermore, protecting and covering the face and being particular when in gatherings. The Govt. is moving fast towards relaxing measures. The Govt. has also requested the general public to move according to the imposed COVID-19 procedures. The re-opening up of restaurants is taking place in greater Montreal and Joliette areas. This is while making sure that up to 10 people from three households are permitted.

RE-OPENING PROCESS-‘PHASE 4’:

The movement towards the re-opening & easing process is changing gears to the next stage i.e. ‘Phase 4’ which is a piece of huge news for some provinces in Canada. The opening-up stage ‘Phase 4’ includes Day Camps, along with Gym & arenas. Also includes cinemas, concert venues and places of worship. These are areas that are opening up with a limitation of 50 people for indoor gatherings. Similarly, the province Saskatchewan moves to ‘Phase 4’ as part of the re-opening strategy. The restriction implies on the number of people in a gathering. Regarding social distancing, these measures are taken apart from allowing room in the form of space.

Outdoor sports and professional sports are a significant part of the daily activities in Canada. At schools, the importance of sports is paramount. It is considered as one of the most dynamic and loved activities. Hence, this similarly in university and league levels in the Canadian provinces especially in Summer. Outdoor sports that can resume includes soccer, softball and flag football. Strictly prohibited in most Canadian provinces is martial arts sports that include Judo as well as Boxing. This is because of restrictions imposed due to full contact i.e. body contact. The restrictions are also implied on competitive play, tournaments and inter-provincial travel for games. In Canada, Inter-Provincial travel has been a common activity and is under restriction due to COVID-19 hazards that are still applicable by Govt. of Canada.

MORE RELAXATION IN SASKATCHEWAN & MANITOBA:

Apart from the many easing activities taking place in Quebec. As part of further relaxations and easing up activities in Saskatchewan and Manitoba outdoor swimming pools and spray parks can re-open. However, the opening up shall be taking place with physical distancing as well as the cleaning rules in effect. A strict measure to imply. However, with needs to be properly administered by the Provincial Government. Only if they intend to open up activities. There are still some municipalities that include Regina and Saskatoon. These are the areas that won’t be allowing the re-opening, not even with strict distancing laws. The distance allowance between two people is of two meters as according to Health Canada. Hence, public gatherings are for 30 people or close. Furthermore, in indoor public and private gatherings group limitation applied.

Not restricted to half capacity, are restaurants and bars. This is in Phase 4 process of higher level relaxations. However, in easing process still, the seating arrangement should be highly overlooked. This means that the gap between people should be two meters as part of the physical distancing barrier. This measure i.e. Physical distancing barrier is a necessity that must be followed strictly during Phase 4 of the re-opening process. Public areas also include lounges in public places includes Non-smoking bingo halls and video lottery terminal lounges that can reopen at half capacity. Hence, reduced capacity is to make sure that distancing takes place according to the Health Canada requirements for man-to-man distancing.

CHILD-CARE CENTRES, RETAIL STORES & OTHER PUBLIC GATHERINGS:

The Child-care centres and retail stores are both a necessary part of Canadian economic and daily activities. Child-care centres have found to be very busy for special child-care reasons and activities of nourishment and children providing attention to details. Manitoba province is the first one to realize the importance and has announced the re-opening of Childcare centres and retail store back to normal capacity.

This announcement supported by activities of Health Canada is a critical step in decision making for the retail industry and Child-care centres. As part of the Phase-4 activity, the opening up is brave indeed but is a necessity in bringing things back to a normal state.

However, as part of the travel restrictions, the Province of Manitoba has eased some restrictions that are known as Self-quarantine. People coming to Manitoba from Western Provinces, Northern Territories, and from Northwestern Ontario Province shall no longer have to self-isolate for a 2 weeks period.

It is apart from these activities, there is an allowance for larger public gatherings. The implication of certain measures is necessary for gatherings. The measures include that people can fill up to 30% of the capacity not exact numbers but close. There is an allowance of public gatherings as long as there can be splitting down. This is between groups of 50 indoors and 100 outdoors. The procedures taking place in Quebec and other provinces might be slow and precautionary but are highly effective to reduce hazards of pandemic COVID-19. ‘Health & hygiene’ in current times is highly recognized in Canada due to many reasons, one of them being the Pandemic.

While the COVID-19 recovery process is on the way with the re-opening of activities. The re-opening of key global operations is also taking place in parallel internationally. As According to many environmentalists the COVID-19 recovery process is acting as a vaccine. In other words solutions for the climate change in the entire global world. This is due to some similarities and outcomes. Hence, as COVID-19 and Climate change shares a unique and friendly relationship with each other.

The policy makers and decision makers should definitely focus on the vaccine and what are measures that are more needed. More or less to build the future and its sustenance with a global vision. For generations to come actions today will shape human existence. This happens as COVID-19 has been different in the history of world pandemics. Hence, the positive environmental benefits have shown us what is possible. Furthermore, how to make this environment a positive living environment for future environmental goals. Climate change has been taken as a larger problem that has significantly changed the world. This happened, since it was recognised as a significant problem by the world Governing bodies.

However, what’s most concerning about the pandemic COVID-19 & its recovery process. Its not just the virus itself but many associated issues that are interlinked. The climate change is what we have developed ourselves over the years. It is set to be the worst crisis of our times and ongoing. If the response is not instant and actions are not immediate. Ironically, than the crisis shall be shaping human civilisations for a millennia. In simple words, long term sustainability is the most wanted desire of the human race. Hence, also their biggest vaccine in times of concern.

CLIMATE CHANGE AND ‘COVID-19’:

The climate change and COVID-19 enjoys a unique relationship. This relationship is rather new due to the latest pandemic’s growing impacts in the world. Climate change increases the likelihood of COVID-19 type pandemics. This simply means pandemics of similar nature that has a huge dependency on climate and what’s necessarily in the atmosphere. Talking in terms of the short term problems & their vaccine the last few years witnessed wildfires in Australia, innumerable deaths due to the Cyclone idai in Africa and many other extreme weather events. However, in the longer term the effects are more drastic as COVID-19 will have many serious and mental health consequences. These are in addition to the effects on the global economy and on global and regional food systems.

According to key stats from the World Bank. The figures shows that over 40-60 million people will be driven into extreme poverty in 2020 in post recovery. This poverty line is far higher than what it has been since few decades. This is mainly due to the pandemic’s long term effects on the globalised world especially the developing nations.

While we ponder more over the relationship between COVID-19 and climate change, its intersection is complex. For example if in a Class diagram, Class ‘A’ is COVID-19 and Class ‘B’ is ‘Climate Change’, its intersection i.e. A ‘Intersection’ B is a complex solution. This is not indeed a surprise regards to stats for atmosphere pollution. As we know well that air pollution is highly responsible for 7 million premature deaths per year.

CLIMATIC ACTION & COUNTER STRATEGIES:

The climate action and counter strategies are the next step in the agenda. It is in form of solutions or vaccine regards to countering COVID-19 pandemic in an undergoing recovery process. Hence, especially this year as it is already the middle of the year. It is estimated that in the next year millions of dollars of budget will be spent on encountering COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to this  similar pandemics w.r.t. the huge impacts of environmental sustenance. Investing huge sums in technology for prevention of COVID-19 and tackling climate change issues. These are huge investments in technologies that prevent systematic risks, reduce carbon emissions and in parallel improve societal resilience. By societal resilience we mean interactions in the society and bringing resilience to efforts in form of precautionary measures. The various strategies to combat climatic hazards and pandemic needs Government level strategies which are as follows;

  1. Science-Based Net Zero Strategies:

Adopting the pathway of scientific measures that includes Net-Zero strategies is the hour of the need. This is especially for a plan of the next 30 years i.e. 2050 making the environment absolutely Carbon free. The process will definitely create a 100% clean-energy system. Hence, accelerating the transition to zero-carbon mobility and finding out the potential of natural climate solutions. The use of nature at the optimum level is the best step against Climate change.

  1. Addressing Current & Future Health Risks:

Addressing the current & future health risks means global health security frameworks are actively in action especially during the recovery. These also includes those hazards that are arising from climate change which is every MNC’s business. Also is part of their CSR i.e. Corporate Social Responsibility while addressing the challenges. Countering these risks also includes collective and committed planning and prevention of global threats. These are additional measures that are taken across all nations of the world and relative stakeholders.

  1. Redesigning Cities for Better Lives:

Redesigning cities for a better life style while considering the climate change measures is the commitment. While we are entering the post-pandemic era, there should be rethinking regards to the urban design. This also includes planning and development and management of stakeholder relationships for urban development. While putting health at the heart of the urban life style. Experts should point out how they can design cities where people will have good access to security, opportunity & health centres. A huge responsibility lies regards to the sustainable efforts as we can’t ignore the science for positive climatic action. Today it’s our responsibility to build a healthier environment that will be a source of better outcomes for tomorrow.

The Canada-US Border has been under closure since late March due to the pandemic COVID-19 and its reopening seems a long process. Furthermore, due to its ever-growing and intense impacts. Canada-US border is no doubt the largest border between two nations. Hence, it has been the most used one as well by commuters since a long time. This is primarily due to the fact that bilateral economic relations between Canada and USA has been exemplary over the years. The extension of the border closure a few times highlights the huge significance of the pandemic COVID-19 and its impacts. The most registered COVID-19 cases has been in United States according to Stats. This shows that they have been on far more suffering end than in Canada. This is along with the number of deaths. A huge figure that accounts over one hundred and thirty thousand deaths are from United States only.

For experts and border control forces it is hard indeed to imagine that what’s going to happen in the United States until Govt. is able to make a vaccine in United States. This is needed for the further prevention of the pandemic as well as bringing deaths to a halt like Italy. A country who was quiet successful in developing a vaccine lately with success while bringing many casualties to halt. The reopening of border like before is assumed to take to at least next year under these circumstances. Obviously, we are not denying the fact that Canada-US border has been a border of huge importance for citizens of both nations. Still, there are raising eyebrows of Canadian and US leadership who wants to ensure strict safety measures. This is a major reason why the reopening of the border is a huge question mark for at least 6-7 months.

CANADIANS ARE NOT IN RUSH OF BORDER REOPENING PROCEDURES:

Vitally due to the number of deaths and affected people in United States. The Canadian authorities are still not affirmative in border opening procedures. They still think that there is no rush to open the border. Most importantly as many people from USA want to come to Canada. Hence, for multipurpose reasons as well as trade purposes. According to a survey for opening up the border procedures. Question arises that “Whether Canada should go ahead with reopening of its Border with the US?” a huge 47% were negative as they said not before the end of the year i.e. possibly December. In United States of America, the registered Corona cases is now 2.6 million people. This is highly unlikely for Canadian enthusiasm to rise for their American neighbours through Canada-US border. The circumstances are not so ideal, especially for citizens of both countries and their regular commuting.

Ironically, allowing only very necessary travel, this is while keeping in mind the imposed travel restrictions. Examples includes compulsory business travel and delivery vehicles carrying goods from here to there. While considering the reopening according to the most recent stats between June 15 and June 21. Figures shows 170,998 people entered Canada from a land crossing with United States. From these huge figures 104,247 of the people are truck drivers. This clearly shows a huge 61% of people are carrying goods in form of deliveries. This has deeply hurt the Canadian tourism industry that is also dependent on road travel.

A LONG LASTING DAMAGE:

Apart from many other vital aspects that are under consideration. The border control is also seen as a long lasting damage in terms of business generation. While it has impacted the economic relationships between Canada and USA. Subsequently, it has also given huge losses to the supply chain in various industries. Apart from this in similar areas related to Supply Chain and logistics. There are many questions on the effects it will have on the supply chain. This is while there are still questions over the reopening of the border. Hence, many economists from USA and Canada still question the supply chain issues. Ironically, that’s how the supply chain will look like in next six months after the reopening.

The last time the traffic between Canada and USA had dropped to similar figures was during & post attacks of 9/11.

The process of reopening Canada is underway as many industries are opening up in the country. Keeping in mind the past few months Canadian companies are looking for a fast comeback. Hence, Toronto’s Property & Real Estate industry wants to boom again despite the hiccups of last 3-4 months. The drastic circumstances has seen many ups and downs especially in Canada’s Real Estate. Focus being Toronto’s real estate market that has been booming Pre-COVID-19. In the past years in Canadian real estate, especially in terms of sales. Considered as a highly competitive market in the Real estate sector in Toronto. The real estate market of Toronto has been giving huge competitions in the North American region.

According to the most recent stats real estate sales in Greater Toronto Area (GTA) dropped 67.1% in April this year. The market was down by 53.7% this May. This is as compared to May 2019 prices which is a huge fall from previous year’s stats.

IMPACTS OF COVID-19 ON TORONTO REAL ESTATE MARKETS:

The impact of COVID-19 on Toronto Real Estate markets has seen some temporary effects. These are evident on the home market and listings in the GTA. Not only the sales but the home buying intentions have been seen on a low. Hence, making things very quiet and stable unlike previous year where it has been relatively busy.

Hence, the supply of listings that has been a concern before the pandemic will always be an issue. This is once the economy of Canada and housing markets recover from the setbacks of pandemic COVID-19. As according to the last year stats, the recovery is much expected to be a slow one. This is despite how good the past performances have been in Real Estate.

However, there are some factors on which these results are based including historical data. These includes continued success in containing the spread of COVID-19 which has been achieved successfully. Also includes various factors that are generally improving economic conditions and unemployment. Unemployment factor has been a huge one in Canada’s economy and economic turnaround. Hence, this is yet another sector of economy that has risen due to the recurring impacts of COVID-19.

Apart from the effects on the city Toronto there are effects that are Provincial i.e. Ontario province effects and outcomes. These are factors that include ‘land transfer tax deferral’ and adjustment in ‘first-time buyer rebate.’

ONTARIO REAL ESTATE ASSOCIATIONS ANNOUNCED MEASURES:

According to the Ontario Real Estate Association, an Association that looks after the Real Estate & Property of the whole province Ontario. Open houses are still prohibited during the pandemic COVID-19, as according to the President of the Association Sean Morrison. These are while following the precautionary measures imposed for COVID-19.

The recommendation for the realtors is to stick with stage-1 protocols for the reopening. Being part of the reopening process and procedures, these are protocols that were announced in the earlier stages. The stage-1 protocols includes Physical Distancing and wearing personal protective equipment. Additional measures includes during the demos, limited numbers allowed while property showings. Finally, strictly sanitising between the showings. For the sake of seriousness of measures the COVID-19 questionnaires needs being ready. This has been a mandatory requirement of the Provincial Govt. This also is to make 100% sure no one in contact has travelled outside the province Ontario.

The landlords especially the ones related with commercial real estate landlords in Canada will be facing some drastic changes during the recovery. Reasons again being COVID-19 and its impacts on the economy of Ontario including Toronto. However, recovery in at least six months is a guarantee post reopening. Largely based on earlier reputations of Toronto Real Estate Market.

An essential element for the economic recovery in immigration Post COVID-19 is the rise in migrations to the beautiful country. A country full of natural beauty, landscapes and state-of-the-art technology has suffered. Similar to the rest of the world during COVID-19 pandemic and most recent lock-downs. The country is already in the list of migrations. On top of this 4th in the list of most favourable spot for international students. It is just below Australia, in the prestigious list of countries. Hence, starting with most favourable being USA, U.K, Australia and finally Canada. The most favourable of the cities for students for studying are Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa. These three have been able to carry on with the reputation of being the most wanted cities for students.

According to the facts released by the Canadian Bar Association’s immigration Law Section. The economic recovery of Canada is in the hands of migrants who want to settle in Canada. Foreign workers and migrants are an asset because of their motivational levels and attitude at work. Finally, implementation of their assigned duties with responsibility and flair. Canada is one of the top 10 peaceful countries of the world. Hence, it is highly responsible regards to the rights of their citizens. Furthermore, along with the immigrants’ rights in Canada they hold huge responsibility.

ACCEPTING NEW IMMIGRANTS IN CANADA:

Accepting new immigrants into Post COVID-19 will be a challenge for the GOVT. of Canada. Having said that the immigration will be an absolute key to the success of Canada. Also for their economic values and recovery plan amid COVID-19. The continuity of Canada on their immigration will remain the economic driver of Canada. It will also be the North Star of our policy going forward.

The country’s long term demographic effects won’t change for a long time. Hence, the country needs immigrants as a factor for their economic growth. Furthermore, there has been health economic challenges in Canada in previous times as well. Canada has bounced back with immense confidence and sustainable measures due to the efforts and hard work of their immigrants. The vital role of immigration is regarded as essential in these circumstances. It is mainly due to the fact that COVID-19 has been a cause of some major challenges.

IRCC or Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada is currently working remotely on applications as the application process is taking time. The remote operations have been setup for the team of immigrant counsellors. It is for their access and tools that are mandatory for faster processing.

TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKERS:

Temporary foreign workers are needed by Immigration Canada especially in these drastic times that are being witnessed in COVID-19. This is as a measure to protect and strengthen Canada’s food supply. A quantity which is highly affected while Canada is still encountering the effects of COVID-19. The organisation IRCC is working and monitoring closely with agriculture and seafood industries. Solely, for the sake of temporary work permits and removing barriers to foreign workers. However, still some things are out of control and beyond IRCC’s jurisdictions. In that case certain sectors will be under reduced demands for different products.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN CANADA:

International students are always an asset for a country and its vital economic values. These facts are true for United States, United Kingdom, Italy, France and Australia. Similarly, like they hold vitality in terms of significance for Canada. International students coming to the country in Post Graduate, Graduate and research programs prefer Canada due to many reasons. Mainly, because of University and research excellence, facilities, and state-of-the-art technology in Canada.

However, IRCC has recently reformed its Post-Graduation work permit. This is found as a good news for those who are studying online or remotely. These students shall be responsible for PGWP program and there are talks underway with post-secondary stakeholders. The post-secondary stakeholders shall figure out ways for students for next September in-take. The September in-take is a major in-take for Immigration services. This is especially for  those who will be enrolling for September and Canadian designated learning institutions.

All decisions of IRCC are in favour of immigration Canada. This is vitally as immigration shall be a huge uplift to the Canadian economy and its sustainable values. It is also a huge news for people who have invested in int. student’s programs. Hence, for those as well who are willing enough to immigrate to Canada through various streams. However, in the midst of changing policies and regulations due to COVID-19. Ironically, for the sake of people there needs to be guidance that is vital for how the country plans immigration?

The latest Immigration guidelines for PR’s or Permanent Residence applications is a matter of great concern. Hence, in response to the COVID-19 they have been released by the Canadian Govt. The Pandemic workday although seems to be a relaxed one while working remotely is a bit longer than a normal workday. This is largely something which has to do with more meetings being made while working 9-5 at home making it 48 mins extra. The time taken while commuting is being saved to a huge extent which makes it less stressful. However, the total time given at home is largely increased due to the work from home significance and ease.

This has been an observation, that many people can give more and more time at work from home as compared at the work place. This is due to larger concentration levels on workday and increased focus at home. Although, it largely depends on the environment that you are using at home that can make a significant difference.

For those working remotely or at home, there has been a huge difference made by the pandemic. This is ironically due to the considerable amount of meeting time as well. While we have just reached the 5th month of working from home, 48 mins extra seems like a habit. When we consider the huge rise in the unemployment rate, naturally, you can’t miss the importance of working from home. Neither can somebody take things for granted which means always focused at work. At least you don’t have complains regards to no work, because at the end of the day you have work from home option.

A specific study from National Bureau of Economic Research, the average work day is 48.5 minutes longer than normal i.e. approx 48 mins. This rise has also increased the meetings on Zoom and skype to a huge 12.9 % which is on the higher side. This is variable depending on your field and your role at work.

It is higher in length of time, and According to Dr. Nzinga Harrison, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer, it can be an issue for health as well. She has said that there has been issues with her clients on the workday that are related with “empathy fatigue” & compassion burnout. In addition to this, difficulty working in collaboration and lesser amount of motivation to tackle projects. She has also reported that there have been issues of drinking with the clients. Hence, these are more or less related to managing stress of COVID-19 environment.

The environment is more linked to digital media and being alone in quiet rooms with the work station. Such a scenario is indeed stressful for those who are prone to work 9-5 in the office. According to Brian Wind, a clinical psychologist at Journey Pure says that people have been struggling to stay focused as well at home on workday. This is mainly due to the amount of distractions that they have been witnessing since last 4-5 months.

ZOOM MEETINGS REQUIRES DEEPER CONCENTRATION LEVELS:

Zoom meetings while working from home requires deeper amounts of concentration levels on workday. Between the colleagues and the management, the distancing created is a huge factor of change in concentrations. Things being part of major conflicts can’t arise if concentration levels are deep. However, the main aim is to avoid any kind of conflict that can arise due to work pressures and strain. However, on the other hand a behavioural psychologist believe that most colleagues have used Zoom to avoid stress of COVID-19 environment. This can relax the mind and increase concentration levels depending again on the role of the person.
