Canada is currently under the influential leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Mr. Trudeau is currently serving his second term as the honourable PM of Canada. However, the most important and first Prime Minister of Canada was Sir John A.MacDonald. The man who served Canada from 1867-1873 and again in 1878-1891. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, a country that is part of the United Kingdom. John A. MacDonald will be having his 200th anniversary on the 11th of January. However, his records from the local Register Office in Glasgow conflicts from his real date of birth i.e. 11th January 1815. Sir John A.MacDonald died in Ottawa, Canada on the 6th of June 1891. He died after serving twice as the honourable Prime Minister of Canada.

MacDonald, the greatest PM of Canada also led Canada to achieve the National Dream related to railway service. Considered as a huge breakthrough in those time regards to the launch of the railways. Seen significantly in the current times in Canada are his dynamic efforts for National Railways. It started initially with, a railway all the way from Eastern Canada to the West Coast.

After achieving the National Dream of railways he came up with the policy of high tariffs for the sake of protection of Canadian companies. His aim was to protect Canadian companies from American rivals that were far more efficient. He made it possible for the Canadians to do business with their rivals. More importantly, despite having all the differences between each other. Some examples includes French vs English, Catholic Vs Protestants and Aboriginal vs Europeans. People of Canada highly acknowledged & accepted the business reforms. Furthermore, the acknowledgement was by the business communities of Canada & the US.

MacDONALD’S CONTRIBUTIONS TO CANADA’S POLITICS:

According to many Canadian historians his overall contributions to Canada were irreplaceable. In 1873 he created the North West Mounted Police (NWMP) which is known today as RCMP. Further, he dispatched the force to the North West i.e. the Prairies. The force was given two distinct orders. Famously, one was to completely wipe-out the liquor trade that is based in Benton, Mont. Secondly, to impose the rule of law throughout the whole region.

RIGHTS OF WOMEN & RELATIONSHIPS WITH FRENCH-CANADIANS:

He was the first national democratic leader, not only in Canada, but the entire world to extend the voting rights to women. He introduced legislation that related to the right of vote for women in the House of Commons in the year 1885. Significantly, his efforts for women was for their mental protection, and to gave them the vision for their future. According to him, the women should completely establish their equality as a human being. Furthermore, also as a member of Canadian society on equal grounds with men. His legislative policies for women and being the first democratic leader of the world makes him more outstanding. Ironically, also makes him the greatest Canadian leaders of all time.

He was also convinced that French-Canadians despite being in minority should be treated equally. In a famous speech of the honourable Prime Minister regards to the rights of French-Canadians. He said “Treat them as a nation and they will respond as free people usually do, generously. Treat them as a Faction and they will be factious”.

The honourable PM of Canada and the first PM, John A. MacDonald also took part in a major conference in Washington in the year 1871. The major participants in the conference were Great Britain, the super power in those times, and USA, the current Super Power. Both countries wanted to settle their scores between each other. Initially, as the differences were created because of Britain’s unacknowledged support for the South during the Civil War.
